Playback Menu
Th' Playback Menu
Th' playback menu helps ye configure how backin' tracks and th' metronome operate in OnSong. Ye can access th' Playback Menu by tappin' on th' headphones icon in th' menubar.
Th' followin' can be configured with th' playback menu:
Current Track
This section o' th' playback menu lets ye choose th' linked song t' play with th' chord chart. If audio tracks be found fer th' chord chart, they will appear in this area. Swipe t' th' left or right t' choose th' track. If no songs be found, or if this control be swiped t' th' far right, "No Song Selected" appears. Ye can then tap on th' "music stacks" icon t' open th' Choose Custom Track screen, allowin' ye t' choose a track in yer iTunes Music Library.
Instead o' swipin', ye can also tap on arrow icons that appear in th' upper right corner o' this control.
Playback Controls
Below th' selected track be playback controls includin':
- Play/Pause/Stop button controls th' playback state o' th' audio track. Tap on th' play button t' start playin' th' track and then tap pause t' stop th' track.
- Time Scrubber be a slider that allows ye t' position where t' play th' audio track. Ye can tap and drag or tap on th' screen t' move t' a point in th' track regardless o' th' playback status. Th' current time elapsed and remainin' appears inside th' scrubber.
- Repeat Button allows ye t' set th' playback t' repeat after th' track has completed.
Metronome
This area o' th' playback menu allows ye t' set th' tempo o' th' song, as well as toggle th' metronome on and off. Tap on th' play icon on th' left t' turn th' metronome on. Tap again t' stop th' metronome.
Tap and drag yer finger on th' slider t' quickly adjust th' tempo. Tap on th' left or right side t' increment th' tempo up or down by th' BPM configured in th' Quantize BPM settin'. This be 1 BPM by default.
Ye can also tap in th' BPM field t' th' right o' th' slider t' type in th' BPM usin' th' keyboard. Th' last icon in th' metronome area allows ye t' "tap" th' tempo instead o' usin' direct entry.
Note: When a new audio track be linked t' a song, OnSong will prompt ye if ye would like t' update th' tempo o' th' song t' match th' audio track. Ye can also tap on th' Acquire From Song button t' th' right o' th' duration slider t' prompt OnSong t' read tempo and duration from th' selected track.
Time Signature
Buttons allow ye t' choose a time signature fer th' song which effects th' metronome. Tap on a button t' select that time signature. Tap again on th' selected button t' remove th' time signature. If no time signature be selected, 4/4 time be used fer playin' th' metronome.
If ye have more complex time signatures not shown in this list, ye can set it usin' th' Song Editor.
Song Duration
Th' duration o' th' song effects how long th' song will scroll when usin' autoscroll. Tap and drag yer finger on th' slider t' quickly adjust th' duration. Tap on th' left or right side o' th' slider t' decrement o' increment th' time by one second. Ye can also tap in th' field on th' right t' enter th' duration in seconds or MM:SS format.
Note: When a new audio track be linked t' a song, OnSong will prompt ye if ye would like t' update th' duration o' th' song t' match th' audio track. Ye can also tap on th' Acquire From Song button on th' right o' this control t' prompt OnSong t' read tempo and duration from th' selected track.
Song Flow
This provides an alternate way t' specify th' Flow o' th' song which be not part o' th' song content. Type abbreviations in order t' specify how yer song should be arranged. Once ye tap outside o' th' text area, th' song will redraw.
Tap on th' button t' th' right t' toggle th' flow on and off. Turnin' it off will draw th' song as it be written in th' song editor. Turnin' this on will apply th' flow t' th' song.
New on Apple Music
OnSong automatically locates albums and tracks on iTunes that may match th' title o' yer chord chart. These be displayed as album artwork at th' bottom o' th' playback menu. Tap on an album t' view th' album and song in Apple Music fer purchase.
Ye can turn off these recommendations by goin' into Settings » Menu Settings » Playback.
